Africa Day Hamburg 2017

 "Africa Day 2017" took place on 24rd, 25rd, 26th, 27th and 28th May in Hamburg wandsbek markt. 

With a colourful stage show, hospitable pagoda tents and market stalls, the African community together with other Hamburg citizens will celebrate "Africa Day 2017" on 25rd, 26th, 27th and 28th May 2017, at Wandsbeker Marktplatz.

Under the patronage of Mr. Rolf Salo, President Salo AG, and celebrity guests including African Queens and Kings, Ministers and other prominent guests, a celebration of African cultures will be held over the four days - with music, dance, prayers and culinary dishes. The "Africa Day" recalls the anniversary of the founding of the African Union Heads of State and Government of thirty independent African States on 25 th May 1963. An estimated 65.000 Africans and Afro-Germans in Hamburg also celebrate this day.

On the program are well-known African artists and bands like Nana Achampong and René Tenenjou (König der Löwen). They are accompanied by an information program, stage interviews and discussions. Organizer of the "Africa Day" is IMIC e. V. (Intercultural Migrant Integration Centre e. V.) whose President Sylvaina Gerlich and her team have been organising this regular event since 2012. The "Africa Day" is part of the cultural and integration program offered by the Migrant Centre IMIC e. V. Sylvaina Gerlich was quoted as saying: “With the ‘Africa Day 2017’ we celebrate four days of diversity and unity - which invite all citizens to - celebrating the rhythms of Africa thus encouraging better understanding between citizens in Hamburg.”

Everyone is cordially invited to participate in the Africa Day 2017 (25 to 28 May 2017) at the Wandsbeker Marktplatz. The "Africa Day 2017" will begin with "Investment Forum" on 24 May 2017.
